Watch Dogs has always been one of my favorite games, so when I had the opportunity to pitch an adaptation project at university, I knew it was the perfect choice. While it’s not a cinematic masterpiece, the project provided me with valuable hands-on experience as I was still in the early stages of exploring filmmaking. It gave me the chance to adapt a complex game world to film, and refine my skills in both directing and editing as I navigated the creative process.
Crabs by Haruki Murakami was a particularly intriguing adaptation project for me, where I served as the Director of Photography. The story revolves around a man who, after overindulging in crab meat at dinner with his wife, falls ill and vomits, only to uncover a disturbing truth about the meal—and his wife. Visually, this adaptation was distinctive, as it heavily relied on close-up shots to heighten the tension and intimacy of the narrative. I especially experimented with the fisheye lens, using it in unconventional ways to distort reality and amplify the unease in the viewer’s experience.
This is a trailer for Among Us, where I worked as a camera operator. It was one of my earliest experiences in filming. The project was a great introduction to working on set and collaborating with a team to bring a fun, suspenseful concept to life.
